Gov. Dankwambo converts family house to school

To achieve his one-point agenda and uplift the standard of education in Gombe State, Gov. Ibrahim Dankwambo has converted his family house to a modern Nursery and Primary School.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the house was demolished to pave way for befitting blocks of classrooms named after his late Father, Alhaji Mohammed Dankwambo.
The school is now to be known as Mohammed Dankwambo Nursery and Primary School, Gombe.
“This is the place where the state governor was born. He converted the house to school to immortalise his father and achieve his first priority in government, that is education,” Alhaji Junaidu Abubakar, Dankwambo’s Special Assistant, told NAN.
Junaidu, who was conducting newsmen round some of the newly-reconstructed primary schools in the state, said the state government had so far built 262 blocks of classrooms in parts of the state.
He said 11 model Nursery and Primary schools were reconstructed, one in each of the 11 local government areas of the state and equipped with necessary facilities.
He said each of the schools had nursery and primary sections, computer, tailoring and other skills acquisition units for the pupils.
At Hassan Central Nursery and Primary School, Gombe, which has 3,634 pupils, the Assistant Head Teacher, Garba Sale, said about 100 classes were provided by the government.
He said classes were furnished and enough to accommodate 40 pupils each.
Similarly, 11 Science and technical colleges, one in each of the local government areas were provided to boost science and technical education in the state.
Each of the schools, according to the principal of Science and Technical College, Gombe, Malam Mohammed Musa, is equipped to provide training in computer operation, welding, carpentry, electrical, electronic and catering.
